Dr. Fate along with four other heroes and six villains comprised Kenner's 1985 2nd series figure wave. Expertly rendered true to the D.C. Comics character, Dr. Fate featured a "Mystic Spell Cast" power action. Dr. Fate shipped exclusively on 2nd series card styles. While Kenner intended to re-release all early figures in conjunction with the 1986 third series wave, Dr. Fate has not been documented as being released on the 33-back offerless card style. An existing proof card and prototype carded sample provide evidence of the character's intended 3rd series re-release.
